1. You will never have it all figured out. You’re just beginning adulthood. Anyone your age who looks like they have it figured out. Don’t. Everyone is pretending because they’re all thinking the same thing you are.

2. If you choose to move somewhere else, especially for a job. Think of who you will be in 6 months living there before you commit to going.

3. Quitting is hard. Admitting you were wrong, that you failed, that you’re not enjoying the choice you made is hard. If you want to be content in the long term, make the difficult changes now. You will get better at making them. I don’t know if it will be any easier though.

4. Falling on your ass is going to happen. See rule 1.

5. Don’t become complacent in one job because it’s the best out of all the shitty ones you had, especially if its became repetitive and you don’t feel challenged. Walking away from something comfortable is also hard. Even after you’ve done it you will look back with rose tinted glasses. That’s fine. It makes you appreciate what you had, and who you were during that time. You know who you would be if you stayed, you don’t know what you can be when you leave.

6. Appreciate the laid-back times you have, especially with your friends.

7. Smoking weed, drinking alcohol, taking party drugs, dressing to the 10s with you all your beautiful girlfriends is a lot of fucking fun. Doing it all abroad is also fun. It can become dangerous very quickly anywhere.

8. Trust your instincts. Say no and run in the other direction if you have to. Even if everyone thinks you’re weird

9. The quicker you start living your life without worrying about what the people around you will think the better you will become. You cant control what other people think. They are who they are.

10. Accept that people don’t change. They will surprise you

11. The people around you care about you a lot more than you believe.

12. You cant disassociate from your own life forever.

13. The debt for Indulging in any unhealthy habit comes due. Be nice to future you and think about the fall out she will have to deal with.

14. Living your life as if you’re going to die soon is not ok. The quicker you accept that you’re going to be living for a while, the easier it can be.

15. Accept and be excited by the unknown life offers. That’s where the most fun is. Where the most heartache is. Where the most of any feeling you don’t have all the time is.

16. Do new things, learn like a beginner and be humbled by how little you know. ABL. Always be learning.

17. Look for people older than you, different than you, who have more experience than you and know more than you. Look for even one person you can trust who sees you who understands you. Who can guide you. Tell them what you want.

18. What you think will make you happy will never have the exact feeling you think it will give you.

19. Laughing through pain is fine. Ignoring it is bad. Pretending its not there will cost you. The debt will always come due.

20.  Watch you how you use your fucking credit cards.

21. Falling in love for the first time will be not what you imagined it will be. Just know that it is real. Its really hard and rewarding. You will be humbled by how much you enjoy this person. It will make anyone before them seems so irrelevant in the best way.

22. Loneliness is real feeling and you have it more than you’re aware of.

23. You shouldn’t be responsible for one person’s wellbeing. You’re too young to be a carer of anyone but yourself.

24. Other people can be looked after once you’re looked after.

25. Ask yourself why you feel guilty for the most mundane non guilty things.

26. You will remember one mean thing someone says to you over the 100s of nice things other people have told you.

27. Going rogue to let out all your pent-up frustration is fine. Just eat drink water and have a fucking roof over your head.

28. Be brave have courage. Stand up for yourself and for those who can’t. Nothing you will ever do will trigger the end of the world.

29. Be there for people and they will be there for you
